Jarman Frederick Townsend Jarman was born in Connecticut on 18 August 1880. His parents were special agent for the Connecticut Mutual Insurance Co, Republican councillor and avid golfer Gen.James H. Jarman (c1848-?) and Harriet "Hattie" Chipman (c1851-?). James was the great-nephew of Thomas Jarman, author of "Jarman on Wills", a celebrated law work. Hattie was a descendant of Capt. Nathaniel Turner, of the New Haven colony. Siblings:
