George Larby was born in Farnham, Surrey, and christened there on 26 January 1788. His parents were Thomas Larby and Ann Mansell.
Elizabeth Ellis was born in Seale, Surrey, and christened there on 3 September 1788. Her parents were James Ellis and Sarah Good. George and Elizabeth married on 25 May 1811 in Seale. They lived in Farnham and Aldershot and had nine children. By the 1830s they were living in Hungry Hill, Farnham, and George was working as a labourer.
In 1841 George was convicted of theft and sentenced to fourteen years transportation. However, he died whilst awaiting transportation, on 15 January 1842 aboard the Leviathan Convict Hulk at Portsea. He was 54.
Elizabeth remained in Farnham, but with her husband having been convicted and then dying, life would have been hard for her. She died aged 61 and was buried on 26 January 1850.
