Tom Thurgood, son of Thomas Thurgood and Mary Isabel Stead. Born Sep Q. 1877 in York.
Tom married Sarah Edith McDonald in Mar Q. 1901 in Wigan. They had two sons.
The family migrated to Australia in 1924 and settled in Western Australia. They lived at Wheatley, Southern Cross, Kalgoorlie, and Tom and his son Tom Jr. worked as farmers.

The 1911 census shows Tom working as a dental practitioner (unregistered) and his wife Edith working as a dental assistant in surgery. They have two sons, Donald and Tom. They are living at 1 Bridge Street, York, which has seven rooms, and have a general cook named Alice Carder in service.
On 16 October 1924 Tom and his sons Arthur and Tom emigrated from London on the S.S. Baradine with P.&O. Australia. Their residence was 19 Flasegate, York, and proposed country of residence Australia. Tom was a dentist and Arthur a farmer.
