Lammert Jan Overmars & Reintje de Winter - 3xgreat-grandparents
Lammert Jan Overmars was born on 21 March 1863 in Olst, Overijssel. His parents were farmer Mannes Overmars and his wife Antje Banté. Sadly Antje died in 1865 when Lammert was not yet two. Within a year Mannes had remarried to Derksken Stoelhorst, a widow. They had two daughters together.
Reintje de Winter was born on 12 November 1864 in Olst. Her father was Gerrit Jan de Winter, a clog maker and farmer who built a pub in 1884 and then worked behind the bar; her mother was Dina Kluitenberg, from Apeldoorn.
Lammert and Reintje married on 5 April 1888 in Deventer. They had three surviving children, a daughter who died in infancy and a stillborn son. Lammert worked as a pork butcher and warehouseman. Pork butchers often had small farms at their homes where they raised the pork themselves. The couple remained very close to Lammert's sister Anna and her husband Christiaan Hietkamp, who worked with Lammert.
On 23 June 1897, Lammert died in Deventer aged 34. Reintje had three young children and was no doubt in a very difficult situation. In March 1898 Lammert's sister Anna died and on 12 October 1898 Reintje married Christiaan Hietkamp in Haarlem. He had three sons by Anna, and he and Reintje had four daughters, two of whom survived.
In the early 1900s Reintje and Christiaan moved to Schoten, where Christiaan worked as a labourer, and as a hospital employee. By 1915 they had moved to Zutphen, Gelderland where Christiaan was working as a hospital janitor.
On 7 August 1918 Christiaan died in Zutphen aged 58. Reintje then returned to Haarlem where her adult children were living, and she attended their weddings throughout the 1910s and 1920s. Reintje died in Haarlem on 31 August 1927 aged 62.
