Johan Overmars & Marchien Hogendoorn - 2xgreat-grandparents
Johan Overmars was born on 26 March 1891 in Deventer, Overijssel. His parents were a pork butcher, Lammert Jan Overmars, and his wife Reintje de Winter. Lammert died when Johan was just six, however the following year his mother remarried to Christiaan Hietkamp, a co-worker and friend of Lammert's, as well as being his late sister's widower.
Marchien Hogendoorn was born on 25 September 1893 in Haarlem. Her parents were Simon Hogendoorn, a smith and metal turner, and his wife Catharina Groeneveld.
Johan and Marchien married on 13 October 1915 in Haarlem. They had two daughters. Johan worked for many years for the railway, doing various jobs. These included boilermaker, boiler-cleaner and labourer. He had previously worked as a clerk and groom. On 25 February 1940 Johan celebrated his 25th anniversary with the company.
On 16 April 1943 Haarlem suffered from the heaviest bombing of the Second World War. This greatly impacted the family, as the place the bombs were targeting was Johan's workplace, Haarlem railway station, and houses along their street were destroyed.
Johan died on 24 September 1946 aged 55; Marchien died on 17 August 1964 aged 70.

Johanna Reintje Overmars, known as Jopie, was born on 16 October 1923 in Haarlem. On 4 August 1949 in Haarlem she married Johan Reinier Stevenhagen (1920-2011), known as Joop. They had three daughters:

Joop worked as an electrical engineer at a printing firm in Haarlem. Jopie was a stage actress in Haarlem and Amsterdam who acted in both dramatic and comedic roles. Well into their eighties they enjoyed cycling together. They were married for 62 years before Joop died at home of heart failure on 25 September 2011, aged 90. Jopie passed away following a fall on 1 January 2016 aged 92.
