Paulus Wilhelm Vittali & Anna Christina Louisa Blok
Paulus Wilhelm Vittali was born on 26 May 1862 in Amsterdam. His father was an Italian chimney sweep, Giovanni Antonio Vitali, and his mother was Sophia Pardoen, previously a servant from Den Haag.
Anna Christina Louisa Blok was born as Anna Christina Louisa van Tinteren on 18 May 1862 in Amsterdam. Her parents married four months after her birth, and she legally took her father's name. Her father, a tradesman from Zierikzee, Elias Blok, died when she was thirteen, leaving her mother, Johanna Francisca van Tinteren, to raise her children alone, working as a cleaner.
Paulus and Anna married on 1 June 1887 in Amsterdam; by this time they already had three children, and were to have seven more. Paulus set up his own business, advertising himself as an "Italian chimney sweep and mason".
Anna died on 19 March 1930 aged 67; Paulus died on 12 October 1934 aged 72.
